What We Believe

Our Core Beliefs

Although Divine Science in Denver was one hundred years old in 1998, one of its teachings anticipated a leading principle of cutting-edge contemporary physics and philosophy--that the observer affects the observation.  The appearance of the so-called material world is sensitive and responsive to the thoughts of the human mind to a degree not yet fully explored-- perhaps even to an infinite degree. However, Divine Science believes that the ultimate truth about reality is the presence of an all-pervading divine Good.

Our habitual thoughts, beliefs and emotions have a powerful influence on what we experience, even having to do with what kind of events occur in our lives.  By consciously and skillfully choosing and nurturing constructive states of mind--and best of all, by focusing on the presence of God as all-pervading Good--we can do much to have experiences that are fulfilling to mind, body, and soul.

A second central teaching of Divine Science, as ancient as the mystical tradition itself, is that Intelligence, Wisdom, Power and Love of an order much higher than that known to the ordinary egoistic conscious mind are accessible through the regular practice of meditation and affirmative prayer.

Both principles are central to the New Testament.
