What Is Divine Science?

Divine Science is an organized teaching pertaining to God and the manifestation of God in Creation. The foundation truth of Divine Science is that limitless Being, God, is Good, is equally present everywhere, and is the All of everything. God is pure Spirit, absolute, changeless, eternal, manifesting in and as all Creation, yet also transcending Creation. Evil, therefore, is neither necessary nor permanent. Evil has no reality within itself; it has existence only so long as human beings support it by believing in it.

Since the nature of Supreme Being is Omnipresence and Oneness, to believe in, commune with, and feel this Omnipresence and Oneness is to exercise dominion. It is to enjoy peace and exercise good will. It is to find that all experiences combine to constitute a perfect and harmonious whole. It is to prove that all things work together for good.

All external conditions are the result of our thoughts, beliefs, and decisions and of the focus of our consciousness. The thoughts and beliefs upon which we rely and dwell bring us our experiences of pleasure or pain. It is our own mental conduct and recognition that make conditions either pleasant or unpleasant.

A continuous consciousness that God is All and that God is Good is the basis of health, happiness, and satisfaction. The nature of Divine Being can be realized by giving it expression and embodying it in thoughts, words, and deeds. People think and make manifest as much Truth as they acknowledge. With faith we may start from where we are at present and gradually come to realize the perfect satisfaction for which we hunger and thirst.

Divine Science recognizes the Bible as the history of the growth of humanity's awareness of God; it accepts the Bible as the story of humanity's search for God, the history of Everyone's progress in unfoldment of consciousness, from Adam consciousness as portrayed in the Old Testament to the Jesus Christ state of consciousness exemplified in the New Testament. It is upon the teachings of Jesus that the various doctrines of Divine Science are based.
