Curriculum

The Brooks Center for Spirituality offers a full
range of spiritual education, from non-credit correspondence courses for
personal enrichment only, through training for licensure as a practitioner,
to completion of ministerial studies and ordination. Details of the various
levels of study are outlined below. ENTRY LEVEL:
BASIC STUDIES PROGRAM The following entry-level courses in Divine
Science are available through the Regional Teaching
Centers by class instruction for credit: D.S. 101 Fundamentals of Divine Science Bib.
101 Basic Bible D.S. 102 Spiritual Psychology D.S. 103 Consecration Upon satisfactory completion of these courses
taken by class instruction for credit, the student will be qualified to
receive the Divine Science Graduate (D.S.G.) Certificate of
Recognition. The fee for preparation and mailing of this certificate, which

purchase of more than one set of materials is optional. Students are expected to complete a course
within one year of enrollment. If there are special circumstances, a student
may request an extension from the Regional Teaching Centers are required to use
standard materials supplied by the Brooks Center for Spirituality as the
basis for their instruction.
Certification by the Application Procedure
1.
Complete the Student Information Record. 2. Submit
a fee of $100 per course payable to the Brooks Center for Spirituality at the
time the course is taken. (See Fee Schedule, page 16.) The student is
responsible for seeing that a preliminary consultation is held with the ADVANCED STUDIES
PROGRAMS
For admission to the courses of study that lead
to the D.Sc. F. and licensure as a Practitioner/Teacher, a student must have
previously completed the Basic Studies Program for credit. THE
FELLOW OF DIVINE SCIENCE CERTIFICATE AND LICENSURE AS PRACTIONER/TEACHER
In addition to completing the Practitioner
Training coursework, a candidate for licensure as Practitioner/Teacher must
observe the teaching of an entire Basic Studies course given in a A candidate for licensure as a
Practitioner/Teacher is also expected to read widely in Divine Science
writings on spiritual healing as well as in other classic literature of the
subject. The Brooks Center for Spirituality in Students in this program are also encouraged to
avail themselves of educational experiences available in local academic
institutions, community education programs, and workshops offered by
nationally-known spiritual leaders. Application Procedure for

TRAINING
Strong spiritual leaders are informed of the
principles of spiritual psychology and of the history of their spiritual
tradition, but above all they attend to the unfoldment and practice of their
own relationship with God, both as individuals and as members of humankind. A sensitive balance of acquired knowledge and
spiritual development is the aim of the ministerial training offered by the
Brooks Center for Spirituality. The
Center seeks to assist its students in striking this balance. It provides a
rich body of knowledge in a variety of areas. In addition it teaches
spiritual principles and the practical, individualized application and
realization of those principles along with ways through which to impart these
concepts to others. Application
Procedure Prerequisites: Completion
of the requirements for Divine Science Fellow (D.Sc.F.) and for licensing as
a Divine Science Practitioner. 1.

Follow an individualized program leading to accumulation of 18 credits
from elective sources for completion of ministerial studies (see page 15). QUALIFICATION
OF MINISTERIAL CANDIDATES Graduation from the Brooks Center for
Spirituality does not automatically
guarantee ordination. Becoming a
minister is an important step that involves ongoing evaluation by a
candidate’s Sponsor and Board of Review as well as the fulfillment of
specific requirements. ORDINATION BY THE
BROOKS CENTER FOR SPIRITUALITY The Brooks Center for Spirituality offers
ordination in Divine Science or in the Ministerial candidates seeking ordination
must follow this procedure: I. Application for Ministerial Internship
1.
The
applicant must have satisfied all academic requirements (course work totaling
36 credits) and must have paid all fees. A set of written evaluations from
the applicant’s instructors in all course work must be on file in both
the 2.
The applicant must be interviewed and
approved for internship by his/her regional Board of Review or (in regions
where not enough ordained ministers are available to serve on a Board of
Review) by his/her local minister and other members of a Board of Review
appointed by the Director of the Brooks Center for Spirituality. 3.
The applicant must be appointed an
Internship Sponsor by the constituted Board of Review. This Sponsor must be a
minister ordained by Brooks. Upon
approval of a student’s Board of Review, the Center will authorize the
student as a Ministerial Intern.
(Refer to page 15.) Upon
completion of the two-year Internship, the applicant may apply for ordination. |
