BIBLE 101 Basic Bible (3) R/ C

 

The Bible is studied from the point of view of humankind’s unfolding      consciousness.  Introductory course to the Bible as the Book of Life, revealing through human experiences the development of man’s concept of God.

 

BIB 301 Old Testament Interpretation (3) E/SW

 

Historical, theological and metaphysical analysis of major portions of the Old Testament.  A general survey giving a comprehensive overview.

 

BIB 302 Old Testament Interpretation (3) E/SW

 

An in-depth analysis of selected books, personalities, or themes of the Old Testament with metaphysical insights for daily living.

 

BIB 303 New Testament Interpretation (3) E/SW

 

Historical, theological and metaphysical analysis of major portions of the New Testament, with emphasis on the teaching of Jesus and its expression in the early Christian community.

 

BIB 304 New Testament Interpretation (3) E/ SW

 

Continuation of BIB 303 with in-depth analysis of Pauline and Johanine literature. Includes “tributaries” from the Book of Acts with metaphysical interpretation.

 

BIB 401 The Life and Teaching of Jesus (3) E/SW

 

Emphasis on Jesus’s central theme, the Kingdom of heaven as an

ever-present reality, with special attention to the parables and the Sermon on the Mount.

 

THEO 301 Eastern Religious Thought (3) E/SW

               

Examination of selected philosophical and religious disciplines; their origins and development, basic teachings and major contributions.

 

THEO 302 The Interrelationship of Science and Religion (3) E/SW

 

Scientific explorations and discoveries offer new proofs of ancient truths.  The underlying relationship between science and religion is approached in terms of new developments.

 

THEO 402 Major Themes in Christian Thought (3) E/SW

 

A general approach to the teaching of certain Christian theologians            presented in the light of spiritual metaphysics.

 

THEO 403 Christian Ethics (3) E/SW

 

Basic Christian doctrines in relationship to contemporary value systems as they affect the church and community.

 

THEO 404 Christian Mysticism (3) E/SW

 

Christian Mysticism, ancient and modern, as revealed through selected mystics and their encounters with the Light.  Includes contemplative approaches to achieving conscious union with God.
